Why Download Handicapping Profiles

To handicap the races, ALL-Ways uses Handicapping Profiles made up of, generally, 4 to 6 of the 71 ALL-Ways handicapping factors. The factors are weighted by their Impact Values. These Impact Values are calculated by ALL-Ways for each type of race run at each track the user plays. Thus, ALL-Ways Handicapping Profiles are both track specific and race type specific which is what makes ALL-Ways so powerful.

In order for ALL-Ways to be able to calculate meaningful Impact Values and to begin to use the Multiple Regression Analysis (MRA) functions to automatically create profiles, the user must let ALL-Ways build up a database of at least 100 or so races for the track being handicapped. Prior to building this database, the user must make use of the default handicapping profiles supplied with ALL-Ways. These default profiles have been averaged for all tracks in North America. They work better at some tracks than at others. MRA generated Handicapping Profiles or your own custom Handicapping Profiles that are tuned to the specific track and to the specific kinds of races run at the track will almost always out perform the default profiles.

Furthermore, as a race database for a track grows even larger, say to several hundred races, it is possible for Handicapping Profiles to be aimed at very narrowly defined segments of race types. For example, the MRA Pace function introduced in ALL-Ways Version 7.0 automatically creates Handicapping Profiles based on the Race Pace Shape segmentation method as outlined in ALL-Ways’ Newsletters numbers #3 and #5. This extremely powerful function uses very fine race segmentation and obviously works best when you have more races in your Race Database.

The purpose of this Handicapping Profile section is for one ALL-Ways user to be able to download and use Handicapping Profiles developed by another user. This is useful when you are handicapping a track for the first time and until you have built up your Race Database for the specific track.
