Troubleshooting: Insufficient memory message at Par Update time?

There is a memory problem that only occurs if you have the software program PC ANYWHERE installed on your computer. You may get an out of memory message when you click the PAR UPDATE button on the DATABASE Menu. This problem is easy to overcome. You must "comment out" a number of lines in your C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM.INI file. Specifically, open the subject file and look for lines that look something like the following:

device=awdos.386 ;Added by pcANYWHERE

device=vpcaw.386 ;Added by pcANYWHERE

device=*blockdev

device=symevnt.386 ;Added by pcANYWHERE (may be used by other programs)

TimerCriticalSection=500 ;Added by pcANYWHERE (may be used by other programs)

The words may be slightly different. The key is to identify all lines with "added by pcANYWHERE" and all lines that are contained within the first and last such lines. All you need to do is to type a semicolon (;) as the first character in each line. This "comments out" the lines. Now save the changes and restart your computer. ALL-Ways will operate just fine and pcANYWHERE will work just fine as well.
